When is it going to warm up??
We made our trip to Florida and got a nice sun burn. But now we are back in the Midwest, freezing. Not only that, but our picks for March Madness have all packed their bags and headed home.
Don’t despair, golf is just around the corner, and boy, are we ready. We continue to feature Garland Resort in Michigan, Chicago, San Diego, and coming soon (see below), Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena IL. Plus, we are always ready to help you customize a trip to your favorite location.

Welcome to the Golf Exclusives Hole in One Club
All of us love to get a hole in one, and when we do to brag about it to our friends, relatives and fellow golfers. With that in mind we created a club, so you can publicize your skill (luck) and also get a reward.
If you or another member of your group has a hole in one, send us the information. It will be included in the next issue of our Newsletter. The golfer will receive a $25 Gift Certificate from Golf Exclusives, which can be used for future golf travel with us.
On The Road Again
As we previewed in our last issue, we recently visited St Augustine/Jacksonville FL for our first trip to the World Golf Village. We had a great time, were treated splendidly, and have decided to add this destination to our website. Watch for it, coming soon.
Here are some of the trip highlights:
Great stay at the Residences at World Golf Village. We had a four bedroom home with all the amenities, including a porch, four bathrooms, and TV in every room. They are in the heart of the village, and nearby to a variety of sights. There is also a Comfort Suites, and Renaissance hotel on property for groups of all sizes and budgets.
The golf is excellent. We played 2 courses that we highly recommend, Slammer and Squire, and St Johns Country Club. Plus we visited the King and the Bear, and can see that that is the premier course in the area.
Dining was great too. We ate at Murray Brothers Caddy Shack, Down Under in Fernandina Beach, and Fiddlers Green in St Augustine. All are recommended, especially for their seafood, and ambience.
The World Golf Hall of Fame was a bit of a disappointment. I expected more along the lines of the Baseball or Football Hall of Fame. Judge for yourself when you visit.
Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa
Here is a report on a very nice resort in the Midwest available to you for golfing this summer. Eagle Ridge is located in the 6,800 acre Galena Territory in Northwestern Illinois, just six miles from Historic Galena, thirty miles from Dubuque, Iowa, 100 miles from Madison, Wisconsin and 150 miles west of Chicago, Illinois.
Best known for championship golf, the resort offers 63 holes of some of the best golf in the nation. Headed by The General, all four courses consistently win accolades from such sources as Golf Digest, Links Magazine and Golf Magazine.
Spending the week or just a weekend, Eagle Ridge offers a variety of lodging options that will meet the needs of everyone from a well-appointed guest room at the Inn to the spaciousness of our fully furnished private villas and homes. The resort also offers the best in outdoor recreational facilities that include fishing, hiking, horseback riding and so much more. Need to relax and rejuvenate? Visit the newly opened Stonedrift Spa that provides visitors a chance to relax with some amazing treatments
The Inn is located at the heart of the resort and is the center of activity for recreation, shopping and dining. Lake Galena dominates the setting below the Inn with its 7 miles of shoreline and picturesque marina. In addition to the 80 guest rooms and suites, the main Inn complex houses a spacious common area with a double-sided fireplace and comfortable conversation areas that invite you to relax and enjoy the views
These spacious 3 - 8 bedroom Homes are located in every setting imaginable throughout the property: in the woods, with lake views, on a golf course, or secluded in the beauty of the rolling countryside. Homes include central air, full kitchens and plenty of room to relax. There also are Villas available on property.
But what about the golf? Eagle Ridge offers some of the finest resort course in the Midwest, headed by the General. The General, Eagle Ridge's most spectacular course, premiered in May 1997 and commands a position high atop The Galena Territory. The General is a cart to path only course. Designed by Roger Packard and two times U.S. Open Champion, Andy North, the course features a 10,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with golf shop. Spikes Bar & Grill features dramatic views of the General's rolling landscape. It is a premier Steak House and a great place to enjoy an outstanding meal.
Hole #1 is a 407-yard downhill par 4 where accuracy overshadows distance all the way to the green. This is a great starting hole that takes you down the hill from the clubhouse into the serene valley of the front nine.
Hole #3 is a 180-yard par 3 to a green guarded by water to the right and long. The wind swirls in this valley, so choose your club carefully and favor the left side of the green.
The North course is characterized by elevated tees, long vistas through the countryside, plush, rolling fairways and large, undulated greens. The South course is cut through a heavily wooded valley. A stream comes into play on 11 of the 18 holes. Numerous oak and walnut trees help guide you, while natural rock outcroppings create dramatic views
