Summer in the City

Those of us in the northern climes are playing our local courses. Those in the hotter climes like Florida or Arizona are escaping to more moderate temperatures. Three popular destinations for customers of Golf Exclusives are Chicago, Garland Resort or San Diego. . If you are looking for a summer destination, click on: www.golfexclusives.com and learn more about these “moderate” destinations to keep your game in tune.

A Joke to make you Smile

The 10 Best Caddie Come Back Lines of the Year:

#10 Golfer, "Think I'm going to drown myself in the lake."
Caddy, "Think you can keep your head down that long?"

#9 Golfer, "I'd move heaven and earth to break 100 on this course."
Caddy, "Try heaven, you've already moved most of the earth."

#8 Golfer, "Do you think my game is improving?"
Caddy, "Yes sir, you miss the ball much closer now."

# 7 Golfer, "Do you think I can get there with a 5 iron?"
      Caddy, "Eventually."

# 6 Golfer, "You've got to be the worst caddy in the world."
Caddy, "I don't think so sir. That would be too much of a coincidence."

# 5 Golfer, "Please stop checking your watch all the time. It's too much of a distraction."
      Caddy, "It's not a watch - it's a compass."

# 4 Golfer, "How do you like my game?"
Caddy, "Very good sir, but personally, I prefer golf."

# 3 Golfer, "Do you think it's a sin to play on Sunday?"
Caddy, "The way you play, sir, it's a sin on any day."

# 2 Golfer, "This is the worst course I've ever played on."
Caddy, "This isn't the golf course. We left that an hour ago."

And - the # 1 "Best Caddy Comment":
Golfer, "That can't be my ball, it's too old,"
Caddy, "It's been a long time since we teed off, sir."

Welcome to the Golf Exclusives Hole in One Club

Want to get some recognition for yourself, and save a few dollars on your next trip? All of us love to get a hole in one, and when we do to brag about it to our friends, relatives and fellow golfers. With that in mind we created a club just for you.

Now that the good golf weather is here, I expect a few of you to send in your information. If you or another member of your group has a hole in one, send us the information. It will be included in the next issue of our Newsletter. The golfer will receive a $25 Gift Certificate from Golf Exclusives, for future golf travel with us.

Selecting a Golf School That is Right for You
Contributed By Scott Baglole, Golf School Expert, Merit Golf Vacations.

There are approximately 2,500 golf schools across the US. A little overwhelming isn’t it? So when planning a golf school vacation here are some notes to consider that will help in what may seem like a monumental task.

Like any vacation, one must first consider your budget. A golf school vacation should be considered an investment into you golf future.

Should you truly be committed to attending a golf school vacation, I recommend that you choose the school and not the destination. By this I am encouraging you to truly fit the lesson or school to what you are trying to accomplish from the program, no matter what destination this decision may take you.

Beginners might want to consider a lower student to teacher ratio. A 4:1 ratio or lower is optimal for beginning golfers. This will give you enough personal time with the instructor and will feel less intimidating. In addition a lower ratio school would also be useful to those whose time is limited and can only commit two days for lessons.

Experienced golfers should make sure the school they attend offers on-course instruction. Your swing might need some tweaking but, unlike a beginner, you should really get instruction in game-like scenarios. Dependant on your learning style and handicap, you might still appreciate the attention offered by low student-instructor ratios. This is more of a personal learning style preference than necessity for the experienced golfer.

One should also think about physical conditioning prior to attending a school. At least one month or more prior to attending a golf school, try to begin an exercise program of some type. Most importantly you should start off with stretching, and even try to get an aerobic style program allocated within your time schedule. Try to hit balls every few days at a minimum, prior to attending your chosen school. Just remember how long it was the last time you swung your clubs. Being in good condition when you attend school will maximize your learning experience and allow you to get the most from your instructional program. If you attend any school directly after leaving your sofa you will find that you will be focused on how much your body aches as apposed to what the instructor is telling you.

Some schools demand your entire focus both mentally and physically. Others are a bit more relaxed leaving you the time and energy to do other things. You must first decide if you are more committed to the golf or enjoying the vacation. Are you looking to win the club championship? Or are you just looking for a few tips to make the game more enjoyable? If you don’t feel that you have the time or the willingness to work on overhauling your golf swing, you may want to consider a program that emphasizes on-course instruction where the focus is more on course management rather than swing mechanics.
