Golf Exclusives E-Newsletter - November 1, 2001
Editor: Mike Fitzgerald
Let's Laugh
Life has been too serious as of late. It's time to laugh at ourselves again. Here are some golf anecdotes. Do you recognize anyone?
- The best wood in most amateurs bag is the pencil (with an eraser)
- Why is it that when you tell yourself "don't hit it in the water," your body only hears "water"?
- An interesting thing about golf is that no matter how badly you play, it is always possible to get worse.
- The real reason the pro tells you to keep your head down is so you can't see him laughing at you.

On the Road Again
Who was it that said, "you can never go home again"? This column revisits a resort my partner, Geoff Georgas, went to in 1996, when it was the Princess Resort. Today, it is has undergone a $40 million renovation, and been renamed Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort on Grand Bahama Island. We are planning to visit it again in February 2002.
The resort boasts over 7 acres of beachfront with 3 lodging venues. The Reef Village (all-inclusive) caters to families; Breakers Cay is more for adults, while Lighthouse Point is a quieter option. Airfare is available from most major US cities non-stop to Freeport. From there it is a short transfer ride to the resort.
The golf courses have been getting rave reviews. The Dick Wilson designed Lucayan course features many doglegs and puts a premium on accuracy and shot making. The Robert Trent Jones Jr. Reef course features quite a few water hazards. If that's not enough, for the golf enthusiast, Butch Harmon's golf school is also available for you Tiger wannabes. The PGA Tours Seniors Slam is on the Lucayan course this year. All in all Our Lucaya will be hard to top as the golf destination of choice in the Caribbean.
