If you are a Tiger fan, you will want to be in Tulsa on June 15 to watch Tiger in quest of his next major. See our U.S. Open special below, and call today to be a part of history.
On the Road Again
This quarter, my partner Geoff Georgas recalls a trip he made recently to one of golf's toughest and renowned courses, TPC Sawgrass.
About 45 minutes south of Jacksonville International Airport resides an old resort called The Inn at Ponte Vedra Beach. Not only does it provide tennis, spa, and beach facilities, but also 27 holes of great golf.
The Lagoon course built in the 1920's (Robert Trent Jones design) features an island green every bit as challenging as its neighbor, the TPC at Sawgrass, about 10 minutes away down Highway A1A. The course is a great layout, except for the newly designed 10th , playing differently every day because of its proximity to the ocean (about a block) and resultant breezes.
Sawgrass, home of the TPC and the original tournament course, also offers the complete resort experience. If played from the tips the original Sawgrass layout proved to be a tougher test for the pros than the Pete Dye TPC. The original course is much more enjoyable and user friendly to play than the tricked-up stadium course IF your game is not up to pro status.
St. Augustine, another 45 minutes south on AIA, is home to the new Golf Hall of Fame Museum and courses designed by Palmer and Nicklaus. All in all, the northeast coast of Florida has a lot to offer the avid golfer, with or without a family. There are rental properties (beach houses, condos, villas) and resort properties in all price ranges. Consider this area for your next golfing vacation while satisfying the needs of your entire family!
